It is a truth universally acknowledged* that when you walk in the doors of a CrossFit gym, that your ego gets checked at the door. On any given day the CrossFit diety can giveth and it can taketh. There is a reason that CrossFit is the sport of constant variation. You never know what is going to happen. You could give it your all and still not perform well. You could surprise yourself and accomplish something you didn't think possible. But there is sometimes that one constant, and I hope you are lucky enough to have one too. There is the one who truly finds no greater joy than watching, encouraging and witnessing others success. It's true. The one who cheers, yells, encourages, supports and anything else in between. I've never not seen her celebrate someone's success...even if it means that success eclipses hers. I've never not seen her running from person to person making sure they have the voice in the ear when doubt starts to creep in. I've seen this one be that person in class, in competition and in the Open. I hope this succession of images give you an idea of what it's like to have that person. This is real. And if you are lucky enough to have one, make sure she knows it. We all could use a cheerleader sometimes. *No plagiarism here. Partial quote courtesy of the original feminist Jane Austen.
