19.5

The end of the Open is bittersweet. Every Thursday starts with anticipation and then the day ends with a bit of dread. Everyone knows that whatever WOD is announced, it is going to challenge many in ways they may not be used to

People develop strategies, both physical and mental. Some may be intimidated, some may be just ready to get it over with. Then Saturday ends and, believe it or not, people can't wait for Thursday to get here again. The Open is a lot of things. It's patience, it's frustration, it's humbling, and it's challenging. But the Open is also community, camaraderie, resilience, and accomplishment. 19.5 was all of those things. A test all athletes knew was coming, but none are ever prepared for. Yet they did it. They worked, some in multiple sets and some one by one, some finished and some did not, until they had given it their all. But you know what, it's truly not the finish that matters in the grand scheme of things. It's the effort they put in, today, each Saturday of the Open, and every day in the gym for that matter. The goal isn't about being the best, the goal is about being your best self. The goal is about having the resilience to keep going until you've given it your everything. And when you've done that, when you've given it your best, there isn't any reward better than that. Well done 8035 crew! Until October...
